March 26th, 2010 PURPLE DAY
RAISING EPILEPSY AWARENESS DAY ALL AROUND THE GLOBE!

Purple Day was started in 2008 by a little girl in Nova Scotia called Cassidy who wanted her friends to know what it really meant for her to live with epilepsy. A child’s dream of sharing her story has turned into a recognized, global movement to raise awareness for epilepsy on March 26th.

Last year thousands of schools held purple contests, bakeries offered purple treats, benefit concerts were held, politicans got on board with proclamatioms, the CN Tower was illuminated in purple, Paul Shafer of the Late Night Show with David Letterman launched Purple Day in New York and CTV news reporters wore purple on the day to show their support.

What can you do on Purple Day to show your support for the 1 in 100 people living with epilepsy? You can have fun with our Purple Challenge - wear a purple outfit on March 26th and submit your photos to info@epilepsytoronto.org to win a prize, come out to Toronto Western Hospital for our free health talk on the impacts of epilepsy, join us at Nathan Phillips Square where we’ll be making a human ribbon of purple light!

In your office, your school, your university, your clinic and your community you could bake purple muffins, dye your hair purple, wear a purple tie, hand out purple ribbons – there’s no limit to what you could do to show your support.
