The Canadian Epilepsy Alliance/lAlliance canadienne de lépilepsie is a partnership of grassroots epilepsy organizations from all across Canada. The CEA/ACE was launched in April of 2000 with a vision of a society in which people affected by epilepsy could enjoy good lives, full participation in their communities, education and employment.
This vision carried with it an enormous responsibility. We wanted to improve the quality of life for people affected by epilepsy, but how would we do this? We needed to ask people living with epilepsy from across the country what issues were uppermost in their minds.
With this in mind, we not only launched our organization, but the first ever Canada-wide survey on epilepsy issues. We chose the 16 issues we thought most likely to be important to Canadians living with epilepsy. We asked that you tell us how important each issue was, and to rank your top three areas of concern. We also asked for your comments about these issues and anything else that might be important to people living with epilepsy. We then gathered all the completed surveys and compiled your responses.
