Here's what we asked: (Chosen as #1 - listed in percentage and rank)

1. After a seizure, provincial regulatory bodies may revoke the driver’s license of a person with epilepsy. (14.5%, 2nd place)

2. The use of strobe lights in television and video games can cause seizures in some people. (4.5%, 8th place)

3. In many movies, books and television shows, persons with epilepsy are portrayed as being “crazy” or “evil”. (20.5%, 1st place)

4. Very little research is being done regarding the value of special needs dogs in helping to prevent injury in people with epilepsy. (1.5%, 11th place)


5. Some people with epilepsy can’t afford their medication.(13%, 3rd place)


6. Generic Anti-Seizure Medication is automatically substituted by the pharmacist with no requirement to inform the patient – are you concerned by this lack of disclosure? (3%, 10th place)


7. People with epilepsy are more likely to be under- or un-employed. (10.5%, 5th place)


8. Children and adults with epilepsy often experience barriers to and a lack of support for education. (6.5%, 7th place)

13. People with epilepsy may find it more difficult to immigrate to Canada. (1.5%, 12th place)

14 Some people with epilepsy find it difficult to get life insurance and health benefits.(3.5%, 9th place)

15. Marijuana is illegal even for people who find that it works as an anticonvulsant.(1%, 14th place)

16. Current levels of funding for social assistance, health and education are insufficient to meet my needs.(1%, 15th place)
